Great Keppel Island Wedding | Phil & Tab

There’s something pretty special about a wedding that involves catching a ferry to work! Phil and Tab’s Great Keppel Island wedding was a beautiful, intimate celebration with just 15 of their closest family and friends. There was no bridal party, and their children played some of the most important roles of the day. It was relaxed, personal and very much about the people they love.

Before the ceremony, Phil met Tab at the Hideaway House where they shared a private toast together. From there, they made their way towards the sandbar. Their daughter led the way as flower girl, followed by Phil and Tab walking down the aisle together — something I absolutely loved.

A Putney Beach Ceremony

Their ceremony was held on Putney Beach, with the ocean behind them and their family gathered close. Their children all had a part to play. One of their boys was ring bearer, while their two eldest sons acted as witnesses.

After the ceremony, we spent some time with everyone for family and group photos. Then we jumped in a buggy and headed off around the island for portraits.

Great Keppel really is spoilt for beautiful little pockets to photograph in. We managed to explore just a small part of it before heading back.

Celebrating at Great Keppel Island Hideaway

The celebrations continued at Great Keppel Island Hideaway with a champagne tower, dinner, cake and speeches. Phil and Tab then took to the dance floor for their first dance.

And apparently, the words Great Keppel Island wedding were all my hubby needed to hear to decide that this particular job probably required an assistant! So he came along for the adventure too.

We managed to have a little look around the island while we were there, although nowhere near enough.

I think another trip might be required.

Thank you, Phil and Tab, for having us along to capture such a lovely day. It was an absolute pleasure to be part of it. I’d happily photograph another Great Keppel Island wedding any day!

Weddings at Great Keppel Island Hideaway

Great Keppel Island Hideaway is a beautiful option if you’re dreaming of a relaxed island wedding without travelling too far from the Queensland coast. Just a short ferry ride from the Capricorn Coast, you have white sandy beaches, clear water and plenty of gorgeous locations for wedding photos right on your doorstep.

The Hideaway offers accommodation on the island, along with a bar, bistro and function facilities. It makes it easy to turn your wedding into a few days away with family and friends rather than just one day.

From a photography point of view, there is so much variety close by. Beaches, bush tracks, rocky coastline and beautiful island sunsets give us plenty of options without having to disappear from your guests for hours.

If you’re planning a Great Keppel Island Hideaway wedding, I’d absolutely love an excuse to catch that ferry again!
