Formal Photos with Family (the Chosen Kind)

Every now and then, I get to photograph a session that means just that little bit more to me—and this was one of them.

Recently, I had the absolute honour of photographing Hollie for her Year 12 formal. What made it so special is that Hollie isn’t just another client—she’s the daughter of my childhood best friend, Rebecca. We’ve been friends for as long as I can remember, and over the years, her family has become like my own.

This was actually the second formal I’ve photographed for Bec’s daughters, and it’s always such a privilege to be asked. Hollie reached out two years ago to ask if I could take her formal photos—and every other special event in her life too! I was so touched. That kind of trust and connection means the world to me.

We did the session in Rockhampton, and everything came together beautifully. Hollie looked absolutely stunning, and it was such a joy to capture her and her formal partner on this big milestone. Both are graduating from Rockhampton Grammar, and they carried that perfect mix of nerves and excitement that comes with such a special moment.

To Bec—thank you for always trusting me with these moments that matter. And to Hollie—thank you for letting me be part of your day. You both looked incredible, and I’m so proud to have been the one behind the camera.

These are the moments I truly love. Photographing not just clients, but people I care about. It doesn’t get more meaningful than that.
